Kyiv shopping center is one of the largest shopping malls in Poltava. In 2023, the owners expanded its area and we developed an interior design for the new part of the building, which will become the basis for the future renovation of the complex.
The main challenges were a small budget and a strong time constraint. We also faced a technical difficulty - the ventilation ducts were laid too low, so we were unable to sew up the ceiling. But we found a creative solution: decorative suspended aluminum structures that effectively zone the space and take attention away from the utilities. This added industrial notes to the design, which are balanced by wooden accents on the walls and floor, as well as calm light colors.
We chose a gentle blue color with a gray undertone and complemented it with gray, white and shades of beige. As a result, the color scheme is not boring and does not create a visual overload.
We decided to make the light walls more interesting with a graphic pattern that creates the illusion of volume, and the wooden accents on them complement the design and make the space look natural and cozy.
Concrete columns with minimal finishing could look rough, but we turned them into a decorative design element by applying a translucent backlit mesh. This combination simultaneously supports the industrial mood of the interior and, thanks to the backlighting, harmonizes with more delicate details.
We paid a lot of attention to the floor design. To structure and diversify the large space, we chose two types of floor tiles. Light tiles create a harmonious background, while wood imitation tiles act as an accent for certain areas, giving the room visual depth.
