Natural elements, warm colours, interesting ceiling décor: we’re talking about our favourite restaurant interior design trends for 2024.
Natural elements
Biophilia in restaurant interiors is becoming increasingly popular, as natural elements are a must-have for creating a cosy, welcoming and elegant atmosphere, as well as a key component of sustainable design.
In particular, wood is one of our favourite natural materials. For example, the Jumbo Grill restaurant in Kyiv is almost entirely made of wood. Together with the charcoal wall and grill decor, this composition allows you to enjoy the process of grilling meat as if in nature.

And in the restaurant in Podil, wooden elements harmoniously interact with various textures and warm colours.
Other natural materials that can be used for interior decoration include bamboo, ceramics, cork, stones, reeds, rattan, wicker, etc. However, sometimes artificial materials can be more appropriate, for example, we often use vinyl tiles with wood texture for the floor, as they are more durable and low-maintenance, so they are better suited for public spaces.
Plants are a key element for natural interiors, especially for restaurants in big cities where there is a lack of greenery. They not only make the interior cosy, but also reduce noise, have a positive impact on air quality and mental health. We talked in detail about the role of plants in the interior in this article.

Warm colours
Natural, earthy shades help to relax guests and create an atmosphere where it is pleasant to enjoy communication. In particular, brown, fiery orange and golden yellow, etc. Psychological research confirms that warm colours create comfort and increase appetite. We wrote more about the influence of colours on design here. By the way, the main shade of 2024 according to Pantone is 13-1023PeachFuzz, which translates as “peach fluff” and evokes memories of summer, warmth and comfort.
Ceiling decor
We recommend paying more attention to the ceilings, which are becoming an important part of the interior: with fancy patterns, designs, or plants, or interesting lighting. They can become the centre of the space and enrich the guests’ experience.
Sometimes the ceiling may seem like a difficult part of the room and you may think that the best option is to simply hide it. For example, as it was in the VIP room of the Park Land restaurant: the interior was complicated by metal roof structures, which professionals call trusses that needed to be integrated into the interior. We covered the trusses with white plasterboard and added wooden beams to them. As a result, we got an open ceiling, but we stylised it to match the interior of the establishment. Of course, the ceiling did not become the focal point of the room, but it makes the space look much simpler, creating the effect of being in a country house rather than a restaurant, which adds even more comfort.

Interesting bathrooms
Bathrooms with an unusual design are becoming increasingly popular as one of the most popular places for selfies in restaurants. Minimalist and elegant sanitary fixtures, such as wall-mounted toilets and floating vanity units, create an Instagrammable picture. The use of natural materials such as marble and stone adds elegance. Here’s an example of a vintage dressing room we created for the Matisse restaurant.
